Better late than never (that’s what she said)

It’s no secret that I love to read. I mean, I REALLY love to read. So, I thought I would let you all know what books I fell in love with in 2010. I know, everyone else made their lists months ago. No excuse here. But late’s better than never, right?

I’m taking your silence as a yes.

So, here’s my list of fab, couldn’t put them down books:

1. The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting
2. Mr. Shivers by Robert Jackson Bennett
3. The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen
4. Origin: A Novel by Diana Abu-Jaber
5. Let Me In by John Ajvide Lindqvist
6. The Breach by Patrick Lee
7. Ash by Malinda Lo
8. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
9. The Dead-Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan
10. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I posted a partial list over on The Supernatural Underground last week, but then I realized, Hey, this really needs to be a Top Ten List. As I mentioned in my other post, every one of these books ranks five stars for me. You’ll note that I enjoy a somewhat diverse selection of books, but they all have one thing in common.

They’re all fantastic stories told by incredibly talented writers.

That’s always Number One in my list of preferences. I hope that you discovered some new authors this year too and that you continue to look for new things to read. And I’d LOVE to hear about your favorite books. Really. Let me know your faves in the comment section. I’m always on the hunt for What To Read Next.

  1. Well Sharon just did a post on Skeleton Crew by Cameron Hayes. That is book two so maybe start with number one and go forward.

I really liked Ascension by Caris Roane. Book two of that series comes out later next month.

And of course the Monning Fever series, which I may have mentioned on SNU. Those are so unlike anything else, really they stand alone in my mind.

Gini Koch has a great Alien series that's super fun and high energy. And Amber Scott's new series Fierce Dawn deals with mental illness and twisted immortals.

So many to name! lol Happy reading :)

  2. Katie, Thanks SO much for letting me know about some more cool books. I have heard so much about the Monning Fever series. All good things!

    Thanks for the book picks!

    And Happy Easter!

  3. These are my favorite series, these authors are on my automatic 'to buy list' :)

-Kate Daniel series by Ilona Andrews (currently has four books out, 5th book out this May)

-Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep (3 books out, 4th book releases 4/26!)

-Soul Screamer series (4 books out, YA) and Shifter series by Rachel Vincent (complete series out, 6 books)

-Charlie Madigan series by Kelly Gay (2 books out)

-October Daye series by Seanan McGuire (4 books out)

Also Jeaniene Frost's Nighthuntress series, and Kitty Katt series by Gini many books!! so little time haha (my TBR pile is increasing, so many good books this year )

  4. I want to read Let Me In. The Body Finder was a pleasant surprise for me too.

Karen Chance's Cassandra Palmer series is a must read for me. I love the world she built and the humor of her voice.

  5. Van, Thanks for sharing your list! Those all look dangerously good!

  6. Sharon, Let Me In was so scary good. One of the best vampire books I've ever read, since it was slightly different. And thanks for the recommendation of Karen Chance's series! =)
